SIX Updater

General discussion about ARMA, the OFP successor.

OK, trying this out. I don't see the Alphasquad server listed in the server tab in the application. I ran the update for servers. Do I need to manually add it?

Click sync until you see them. Currently still updating servers so some of them might be down. Will update here when done.

Please see attached pic for server list and how to set password.

wombat50 wrote:I'm totally unfamiliar with beta patches. Will SU do this by ticking Beta in the upper LH corner under the Home tab and if not where is a good place to d/l? Is the latest one all that is needed?

On launching the game I get this pop-up:
addon 'anders_c_gear_ace' requires addon 'ace_c_men_sounds'

Hey 2W,

Please try again. Select the preset for the server you want to join, Do a "Sync" then "Install or Update and Join".
See you on the battlefield.

The beta is optional, it's enabled by ticking the beta checkbox.

All servers updated and ready.

Thanks, d/ling now.

Sickboy:

One minor UI suggestion. When downloading, it would be nice to show a larger progress bar with an ETA as to the time it will take to download everything. Although, perhaps this isn't possible since rsync only downloads the differences between the files so I guess you don't know the total size. Maybe that can't be done. Excited to hear about the possibility of threading in the future, having multiple downloads and multiple checks might speed it up since it could be constantly downloading something as well as running hash checks on the files.

Also, checking the "password" checkbox doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for the suggestions - mostly already planned for my UI improvements for 2.2 and 2.3;
http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-arma-updater/roadmap

The password checkbox is supposed to tell you if the server requires a password, but seems broken, on it :) http://dev-heaven.net/issues/17738

Glad to hear Grunt got the install sorted :)

Sorry about the ace_c_men_sounds removal without backwards compatibility class left in place, sorted for next update. fixed+signed available @ http://dev-heaven.net/issues/17737

Got back from my trip and just went to resynchronize everything. I recreated the presets and went ahead to "convert" and "install or update" as necessary. Everything seemed to be going fine except that I can not get ACEX_USNAVY to download. It looks to me like a problem on the servers -- and I have disabled nearly every mirror to force it to use specific servers, but I get the same result no matter what :(

Sickboy:

Another small suggestion. When launching the game, it would be nice if it would check against the last time the files were checked. That way, if I just launched the program and everything is updated, there's really no reason to go through and check the files again. So if a check has been performed in the last 30 minutes or so, skip the check and just launch the game straight off.

Pushed some sound mod changes and updated missions. Process userconfigs is needed (or manually copy tasm_sounds.hpp from @TASM\userconfig\ to main\userconfig\TASM)

That is already default behaviour, it's what the skip status is for. All mods should get green status when their version equals that of the remote repo, yellow means it will check, blue means it will install.
Always launch through the GUI, and make sure 'Autoskip' is enabled in the Options Ribbon.

If you mean the mission files checks - these are now only enabled when you use install, update or join actions.
How long does it take for you guys? For me it takes about 6 seconds on SSD, to go through the missions of alphasquad:
12:49:09: Mission: 1-32_cti_namalsk_warfare.namalsk.pbo checksum match!
12:49:15: Mission: zp5_forqueenandcountry_1-00.shapur_baf.pbo checksum match!

A quick note about optional allowed mods - like sounds, huds etc. For now you can check which optional mods are allowed by looking at the message log in bottom right: "OptMods: @ACEX_SM, @SOA_ACE, @TASCAC_SM, @sthud"

See attached pic about how to set them up in SU.

The @ACEX_SM and @SOA_ACE mods are available in the Mods list - so you can select them and click 'Add selected', this will make them available in the preset like any other mod.

Found a little time to check all this out. Pretty impressive work from Sickboy. I was pleasently surprised to see all the new stuff. (been a while for me) All in all looking really good. ;12

Took some hours (8-10) for everything to convert and then download. Apparently it downloaded the ACE package in whole again. No biggie though, all green now.

While I haven't had any time to read manuals and whatnot, I was having trouble figuring out how to setup my own preset from installed mods (local). I assume that falls within the scope of the app. I'll have to check it out after I return from traveling.

Great work though, look forward to figuring it all out.

Thanks Gnome!
You can create / clone / delete presets on the Presets datagrid, at the bottom of each dataGrid are buttons that mostly control mentioned actions for the selected row on the current datagrid.
Once the preset is created and selected up top, you can switch to the Mods datagrid, select one or multiple mods, and at the bottom click 'Add selected'.

As to including non SU (official network or custom repositories) mods - this is currently possible up top at Edit Tools -> Profile, Additional parameters group, mod textbox.
E.g put in there; @ASC;@CAS
I reckon that is not very comfortable, especially because this enables these mods on the profile, and not on a preset.
